CAPE Staff Development

For 2015/16 the Centre for Academic Practice Enhancement (CAPE) has responded to feedback from colleagues and expanded the range of workshops and sessions available for academic and professional service colleagues. Training on the portfolio of My Learning tools has been developed along with the application of additional educational technologies to enhance the student learning experience.

This year CAPE are also focusing on understanding the data from the University's key performance indicators (KPIs) – progression and achievement, student satisfaction, employability, etc. – and the changes that can be made to modules and programmes to improve satisfaction and employability.
The team will enable different modes of participation and this year will introduce online staff development opportunities as an alternative and/or complement to traditional face-to-face, hands-on sessions. Again CAPE are looking to target support around themes, such as assessment, and work closely with module and programme teams as well as individual staff members, offering introductory and more advanced support according to need.

CAPE support all Middlesex University colleagues from new academics and academic support staff to existing staff who are looking for continuing professional development opportunities. CAPE also provides a wealth of resources and support online, with full details of the courses and programmes offered updated on a regular basis, available through the CAPE section of the staff intranet
