Digital Literacies at Middlesex University

The aim of this project is to promote digital literacies for teaching and learning among staff and students. The challenge is that many technological tools that are readily available have not been designed for higher education but there is an increasing expectation for staff and students to use them to share content, support learners and for inter-institution collaboration.
The project has so far employed a questionnaire to scope staff and students’ awareness of digital literacies and use of technologies across disciplines at Middlesex University. Findings from the questionnaire will inform discussions about existing and potential uses of technology for encouraging digital literacies. The intention is to follow up the questionnaire with focus groups and interviews. Some preliminary results from the questionnaire are available on the project blog http://mdxdiglit.blogspot.co.uk/ (under development).
