Title: Evaluating the impact of a pedagogical intervention to address LGBTQ diversity in the social work curriculum

Principal Investigator: Sarah Lewis-Brooke, Social Work
Team members: Alfonzo Pezzella, Social Work & Mike Mimirinis, CAPE
Research grant awarded by the Department of Social Work, Mental Health and Integrative Medicine, Middlesex University

The project explores whether existing curriculum design increases students’ knowledge and awareness of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Questioning
(LGBTQ) issues and/or affect student attitudes to this group. Team members intend to identify and systematically analyse the features in the curriculum of two Social Work modules in the first year, which were intended to develop a more inclusive attitude in students and to nurture a greater understanding. Project duration 18 months.
